80s-Wizard:

"Don't Dream It's Over" was the fourth single released from the Crowded House self-titled album in October 1986. The song reached #8 on the Australian Singles Chart, however internationally, it climbed to #1 in Canada and New Zealand, #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and to #27 on the U.K. Singles Chart during 1987. On the B side of the 7" vinyl single is a track that also appears on the album and is written by Neil Finn and Paul Hester titled "That's What I Call Love".

The 7" single picture sleeve cover features an image of a broken dinner plate with three black and white photo insets of each band member, these appear to be stills from the accompanying music video (see below). The back cover features that same image of the broken plate, but now with a small black and white photo inset of the band performing. The U.S. and U.K. version of this 7" picture sleeve cover is less elaborate and only has a single coloured photo of the group on the front with the bands name and the song title displayed.

"Don't Dream It's Over" is easily one of the most popular 80s singles by Crowded House. It's a much loved Australian classic that still receives significant airplay on commercial radio across Australia and indeed all around the world. A copy of an original 1986, 7" vinyl Australian pressing can be seen below.
