"Trust Me" was the debut single for Melbourne band I'm Talking, released in December 1984 and reaching #10 on the Australian National Singles Chart. The song introduced singers Kate Ceberano (on lead vocals) and Zan Abeyratne to Australian radio.

I'm Talking had a funk, soul, electro-pop sound that really appealed to me back in the day.  In '84, the inner city break dance craze was in full effect across America, and around the world. Artists like Prince, Chaka Khan and Madonna were already utilising funk based dance music and incorporating elements of urban street sounds into their work. In many ways, this song reflects the influence of American music and urban culture, on Australian bands at that time.

About three years ago, I came across this copy of the 7" vinyl single at a local independent record store. It was in relatively good shape with only minor signs of wear to the picture sleeve. The 7" vinyl itself was in great condition with minimal clicks and pops. I really like this period in Australian dance music, 'Trust Me" is an Australian 80s pop classic in its own right.
