80s-Wizard:

"Bad Moon Rising" is a cover version of a Creedence Clearwater Revival song recorded by Dubbo band The Reels in 1986. On release, the single stalled at #11 on the Australian Singles Chart just short of the National Top Ten. It was a non-album single not included on any compilation by The Reels at that time.

Side B of the 45 vinyl single is also a non-album track called "Worlds End" which continues in the seemingly apocalyptic theme of side A. The artwork on the front sleeve has an image of a man in a forest clearing with his arms outstretched and raised, looking up he yells at the rising full moon in the sky. The design is credited on the back to artist Doug E. Wade, also included are the original lyrics of "Bad Moon Rising" by singer, songwriter John Fogerty, the track listing titles and the studio credits.

This slower,  pseudo-orchestral version of "Bad Moon Rising" really caught my attention whenever I heard it on the radio back in the late 80s. I felt the vocal arrangement added greater emphasis to the mysterious, prophetic feel of the song, making it a very haunting rendition of the 1960s classic and arguably one of their best known singles in Australia. Below are the details of the original 7" vinyl single from 1986.
