80s-Wizard:

"Big Girls" was the debut single for Sydney band Electric Pandas, in 1984 it reached the National Top 20 resting at #18 on the Australian Singles Chart.  The song was included on the band's debut album titled "Point Blank" released the following year in 1985. Side two of the vinyl 45 is a track called "T.V. Dogs", it's a rock song that to me almost sounds like something Talking Heads could have dreamt up, minus the percussion.

The artwork, design and photography on the 7" single picture sleeve are not credited. The front and back cover feature a live shot of Buckfield in different poses. The back cover also includes four black and white photo insets of the band members with their names in a caption.

The Electric Pandas formed in 1983 and was fronted by singer Lin Buckfield who performed with the group until they disbanded in 1987. The song may not always receive great airplay today, but back in the day "Big Girls" was a major coming of age anthem for young women at that time. I think it's still one of the most memorable Australian pop/rock songs of the mid-1980s which deserve greater recognition.  The details of the original 7" vinyl single released in 1984 are below.
