"My Girl" was the second single released ahead of the Hoodoo Gurus 1984 album "Stoneage Romeos. The song reached #35 on the Australian Singles Chart in 1983, while in the U.K. it climbed to #11 on the U.K. Independent Music Chart.

The B side of the 45 vinyl single is a track called "Be My Guru" which was not included on "Stoneage Romeos" until its re-issue in 2002. The 45 picture sleeve design and photography are uncredited but feature painted photos of the band members with their name and song title on the front cover. On the back sleeve, are the credits, the band name and track titles against a hot pink background.

During late 1983 and through 1984, this single could be heard everywhere on radio around the country, introducing the Hoodoo Gurus to a much larger Australian audience outside of their native Sydney. Because of the theme, "My Girl" was a popular underground 'high school hit' with many young people years after its release. See the details of an original 7" vinyl single pressing below.
