"No Lies" was the debut single for Sydney based band Noiseworks. The song reached  #31 on the Australian Singles Chart in 1986, while in New Zealand it climbed all the way to #15. It was included on the band's debut self-titled album that was released the following year. The song introduced New Zealand singer Jon Stevens to Australian commercial radio and propelled the band to national attention. A very lively and energetic rock track, "No Lies" enjoyed regular airplay from coast to coast despite the singles modest chart success.

On the B side of the 45 vinyl single is a song called "Learning To Swim" which doesn't appear on the band's debut album. At best, the song is an eclectic mix of repetitive pop, funk and possibly reggae. But unfortunately, it's a very mediocre attempt that just doesn't seem to get there in the end.

The picture sleeve artwork, design and photography are not credited, the front cover features the band's name and song title only. On the rear side, to promote the group, are five individual black and white photos of each band member. Their names and roles can be found in a caption under the photo inset.

The fonts and the layout of the photo inset remind me of an old 1960s Beatles 45 picture sleeve cover. I'm not sure if this was intended, but it seems to work. In the U.K. and European release, the artwork and design for the sleeve remained relatively the same. Only the individual photos on the rear cover were changed in favour of a single group shot.

Noisework's second single "Take Me Back" reached #7 on the Australian Singles Chart in 1987. Soon after they were regulars on the national touring circuit and remained one of Australia's most popular live acts well into the 1990s. Below are the details of their original 1986, 7" single vinyl pressing of "No Lies".
